Guide By Room Declutter FAQ About

About Organize Small Spaces

Our story and mission

Why We Exist

Organize Small Spaces started from a simple frustration: most organization advice is written for people with spacious homes, walk-in closets, and dedicated storage rooms. It assumes you have an attic for seasonal items, a garage for tools, and a mudroom for coats and shoes.

For the millions of people living in apartments, studios, and compact homes, that advice often doesn't apply. "Add more storage" isn't helpful when you have no space for more storage. "Use your garage" isn't relevant when you don't have one.

What We Do

We create practical organization content specifically for compact living. Our guides address real constraints:

  • Limited closet space
  • Small or no pantry
  • One bathroom for everything
  • No basement, attic, or garage
  • Rental restrictions on modifications
  • Shared spaces with roommates

We don't believe organization requires expensive custom systems or professional organizers. Good organization is about having less stuff than your space can hold, giving everything a home, and building habits to maintain order.

Our Approach

Practical Over Aesthetic

Instagram-perfect organization looks great in photos but often isn't sustainable. We focus on systems that work in real life, even if they're not photogenic.

Declutter First

No organizational system can save you from too much stuff. We advocate reducing before organizing, every time.

Renter-Friendly

Much of our audience rents. We prioritize solutions that don't require permanent modifications or landlord approval.

Budget-Conscious

Organization doesn't require expensive products. We share solutions at all price points and often recommend starting with what you already have.

What We Don't Do

We don't push minimalism as a lifestyle. Some people thrive with very few possessions; others prefer to have more things. We don't judge. The goal is having a functional home that works for you, whatever amount of stuff that involves.

We also avoid the pressure and perfectionism that sometimes surrounds organization content. A "good enough" system you'll actually maintain beats a "perfect" system you'll abandon in two weeks.

Our Content

All content is written by people who have lived in small spaces. We write from experience, not theory. When we recommend solutions, it's because we've used them or seen them work.

We update guides regularly as we learn better approaches and as products and practices evolve.
